Jon Jones is interested in a possible title fight between Alex Pereira and the BMF.
Jon Jones, despite all the speculation about his retirement has come up with a shocking proposal for his next possible fight.
UFC 309 will be held in a few weeks and many think it may be the last time that ‘Bones” ever enters the octagon. Stipe Miocic, whose retirement is also imminent, is considered a legacy match for the heavyweight champ and is seen as a perfect way for Jones bow out of the sports.
Jon Jones appeared to be preparing to put down his gloves on November 16 – win, lose or draw. But that might not be the case anymore. Even with the negative backlash, Jones still has no interest in fighting Tom Aspinall.
Jones said, “Well, it’s a shame that the interim championship was even there.” The only reason there was a fight for the interim championship was that I was injured and they wanted to maintain the importance of Madison Square Garden.
“Sergei Pavlovich and [Tom] Aspinall should never have fought for an interim title. The fight should have been just a replacement. “Just a main-event fight.”
“I don’t think it was wise to make this a temporary fight. Now you have a lot of confused people. “When you have an established champion who has been around for as long as me, there’s no need to have an interim championship.”
According to the man, a title fight for BMF against Alex Pereira might convince him to postpone his retirement.
It would be great to fight for the heavyweight title, but I’d also give it up willingly. I gave up the light-heavyweight title and would love to give up this one too …”
“Fighting Pereira to win the BMF belt would be awesome.” Both of us have two belts, in two different weight classes. The night we fight we will both be fighting for the BMF belt. “How cool would that be?”
