UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards Would Fight Conor McGregor’s on one condition

Leon Edwards Would Defend Title Against Conor McGregor

Leon Edwards, UFC Welterweight Champion, recently shared his thoughts about the possibility of facing Conor McGregor in future.

Since his horrific leg injury at UFC264 in July 2021, Conor McGregor ‘The Notorious” has not entered the Octagon.

The UFC’s most popular drawing star has gained a lot of weight in the intervening time, which makes his chances of reaching the lightweight limit very slim. In the hopes of becoming a three-division champion, the man has expressed his interest in moving to welterweight.

Leon Edwards, on the other hand, had to endure a difficult journey to get his long-awaited title shot at UFC 278 in December last year. He defeated Kamaru Usman with a devastating head kick at the final hurdle. UFC 286 will see Usman defeated by Rocky.

McGregor could return to welterweight if ‘Rocky’ meets certain conditions.

Leon Edwards on Conor McGregor: “It would be a massive fight”

TalkSPORT.com’s welterweight king, Edwards, revealed that he would be interested in meeting ‘The Notorious’. Edwards thinks the blockbuster fight would be a huge deal for MMA Europe.

To make the fight happen, however, McGregor must pick up at least one win in the division upon his return, much like Edwards’ condition to defend the title against Jorge Masvidal.

“Yeah, 100 per cent. It would be a great fight if Conor returns and wins at welterweight. It would be a huge fight for Europe and a massive fight to all. Let him return, win at welterweight, and then we can discuss from there.”

Paradigm Sports manages both fighters, adding another dimension to any possible match-up.
