UFC bantamweight fighter Umar Nurmagomedov gave an interesting look at Khabib Nurmagomedov’s MMA absence

Umar Nurmagomedov & Khabib

Khabib is expected to leave MMA completely in order to concentrate on his personal life, and more specifically his family. Khabib has coached many fighters since he quit MMA in 2020 as a fighter.

Khabib’s presence at MMA is the latest news just weeks before Makhachev’s title defense versus Alexander Volkanovski in UFC 284. Javier Mendez says Khabib will not be at Makhachev’s side, but it is uncertain if he will be there as a spectator.

Umar will be facing Raoni Barcelos at UFC Vegas 67. Khabib won’t be there. He has recently risen to the top of the bantamweight rankings, and could be in the title picture for this year.

Umar believes that Khabib’s absence will be temporary, despite it being this weekend.

Umar questioned Khabib’s decision to take a coaching leave during his UFC Vegas 67 media conference.

“This guy is my brother, and I am with him.” Umar stated that he cannot leave. “I called him, talking with him about this fight, and about cutting weight. He was just stopping too much travel. I will be training with him when I return home. I will visit his house and tell him “Hey, let’s go to training.” But this guy is always training. He can’t stop.”

Khabib will still be a strong presence at Eagle FC’s promotion. The club will host events in 2023. Eagle FC does not have any United States events at the time of writing.

Khabib’s friend Daniel Cormier and ex-teammate spoke recently about the special MMA leave that Khabib received. Khabib’s legacy will be remembered forever by Usman Nurmagomedov and Makhachev.

Umar will probably feel empty this weekend against Barcelos due to the absence of Khabib, but he believes this feeling will only last a few days.
